Okay, so maybe it's not magic. Maybe there is something to the power of validation. My therapist doesn't do magic tricks, but sometimes validation feels like magic.
Next thought: Perhaps the apparent difficulty of life provides a space to see God in a totally new way. When the Israelites were in the desert they were given manna which literally means "what is it?". When the Israelites were in a tough place physically and emotionally, they gathered up something they did not understand in order to be nourished and sustained. A mystery, if you will. How many mysteries in my life have I refused to nourish me simply because I did not understand? Ann Voskamp says, "That that which tears open our souls, those holes that splatter our sight, may actually become the thin, open places to see thrrough the mess of this place to the heart-aching beauty beyond. To Him. To the God whom we endlessly crave."
This book, I'm telling you, is a direct God send. And you know what? If I have to wait and feel dry spiritually for a period of time to be met at the perfect time with such powerful words, I will continue my wait in FULL EXPECTATION. The way this woman is nourishing my soul with her words and experiences is the best graduation gift in the whole wide world.
