Step 1. Spend weekends doing things that are not school work or academically related.
This weekend has felt a little bit wobbly like a baby taking its' first steps-kind of falling, landing on my feet, wobbling, kind of falling, landing, repeat. I sincerely would like to feel normal waking up early, seeing friends, doing fun things, and resting. I am adjusting to the fact that work is Monday through Friday. Since college I have worked really awful shifts and have not known what a regular schedule or normal weekends look like. I would go to school during the week, work all weekend, or vice versa. Lately it has been more working during the week and doing school work on the weekends. Now I work Monday through Friday and then it's the weekend. "The Weekend" comes with a lot of expectations and connotations, but it has not been that way for me in a long time. The weeks ran together and there was never an "end" on my weeks.
You know I love a good list, as I have made lots of additions to my post-graduation goals list, but it's hard to figure out where to start. So this weekend I started with walking around downtown a little, seeing Erica and watching a movie, followed by a cute coffee shop moment for us. It was delightful. Today I have spent some good quality time with Patrick. I find myself enjoying my time with him the longer that we are together. He brought me to the floor (literally) in laughter this afternoon and I could barely breathe. If that's what future weekends could hold, I'm down (literally and figuratively).
Some random items: I ate fresh avocado today and it was soooooooo good. I need to continue to take advantage of this while it's seasonal. I love picking flowers and putting them in glasses around the house. Shot glasses are actually really perfect containers for one or two flowers for the table. Martha Stewart ain't got nothin' on me.
